Jakarta, the Only Province in Indonesia Not Producing Broiler Eggs in 2020

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), DKI Jakarta was the only province in 2020 that did not produce chicken eggs. However, chicken egg consumption in DKI Jakarta reached 88,160 tons last year.

This means that chicken egg consumption in DKI Jakarta could not be met from production within the region, resulting in a 100% deficit. Consequently, to meet its chicken egg consumption needs, DKI Jakarta had to purchase supplies from other regions with surplus production.

Meanwhile, North Maluku only produced 93.81 tons of chicken eggs. However, chicken egg consumption in that region reached 3,470 tons, resulting in a 97.3% deficit.

Other provinces experiencing a chicken egg deficit include North Kalimantan, which produced 644.21 tons of chicken eggs with consumption reaching 5,030 tons (an 87.21% deficit). West Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi produced 2,600 tons and 3,000 tons of chicken eggs respectively last year. Gorontalo produced 4,050 tons, and Central Kalimantan produced 7,840 tons.

In 2020, Indonesia's chicken egg production reached 5.04 million tons, with consumption at 1.84 million tons. These figures show that Indonesia's total chicken egg consumption was met by domestic production, with a surplus of 3.2 million tons, or 173.53%.
