Riau Farmers Among the Most Prosperous in Indonesia in October 2021

Riau farmers were the most prosperous in Indonesia in October 2021. This is reflected in the farmer exchange rate (NTP) in the province, which was the highest nationally last month.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Riau's NTP was 144.9 in October 2021. This is a 2.53% increase compared to September 2021, which was 141.32.

Riau's NTP also increased by 44.9% compared to the initial index value of 100 in 2018. An NTP of more than 100 indicates that farmers experienced a surplus because their income increase was greater than their expenditure since the beginning of the index calculation period.

In detail, the Riau farmers' received price index (it) was 156.21 last month. Meanwhile, the paid price index (ib) for farmers in the province was only 107.81 in the same period.

Bengkulu was in second place with an NTP of 140.04 in October 2021. Following that was West Kalimantan with an NTP of 137.63.

Jambi and Bangka Belitung had NTPs of 131.51 and 137.63 respectively. Then, West Sulawesi had an NTP of 127.86.

Central Kalimantan and East Kalimantan had NTPs of 125.11 and 124.35 respectively. North Sumatra had an NTP of 123.21. Meanwhile, South Sumatra had an NTP of 111.96.
