Top 10 Goat Milk Producing Countries in the World 2022: Indonesia Makes the List

Based on data from the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), India was the world's largest producer of goat milk in 2022, with a production volume of 6.24 million tons. India has consistently been the largest global producer of goat milk for the past seven years, since 2015.

Next are Sudan and Pakistan, which produced 1.16 million tons and 1.01 million tons of goat milk respectively in 2022.

Indonesia ranked tenth as the world's largest goat milk producer, with 370,360 tons in 2022.

The following is a complete list of the top 10 goat milk-producing countries globally in 2022:

1. India: 6.24 million tons
2. Sudan: 1.16 million tons
3. Pakistan: 1.01 million tons
4. Bangladesh: 915,180 tons
5. France: 717,610 tons
6. Turkey: 540,420 tons
7. South Sudan: 517,750 tons
8. Spain: 482,000 tons
9. Netherlands: 445,220 tons
10. Indonesia: 370,360 tons

Meanwhile, President-elect Prabowo Subianto is considering providing goat and buffalo milk to schoolchildren as part of his proposed free milk program.

"It depends on the region. For example, Southwest Maluku, Moa Island; they consume a lot of buffalo milk. There are areas with many Etawa goats, so they can get goat milk. We have to consider this," said Prabowo in a statement on TvOne, Saturday (May 25, 2024).

He stated that the government will not implement the same approach to distributing free milk in every region. This will be adjusted to the availability of animal protein sources in each area.

"So we are always flexible, the important thing is that our children get nutritious food," said Prabowo.
