The price of milled dry paddy rice at the farmer level increased by 2.8% in August 2021.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the average price of dry milled rice (GKG) at the farmer level in August 2021 reached Rp 5,148/kg. This average price increased by 2.8% from the previous month, which was Rp 5,002/kg. Compared to the same month last year, the price of dry milled rice (GKG) was Rp 5,516/kg, meaning a decrease of 7.1%.

Similarly, the price of dry paddy rice (GKP) at the farmer level increased by 3%, from Rp 4,408/kg in July to Rp 4,545/kg in August. Compared to August of last year, the price of dry paddy rice (GKP) was Rp 4,905/kg, down 7.9%.

The increase in paddy rice prices at the farmer level in August caused the price of rice at the mill to also rise. The price of premium quality rice at the mill was Rp 9,499, up 1.02% compared to the previous month, which was Rp 9,402.

The price of medium-quality rice last month reached Rp 8,916, up 0.32% from the previous month's Rp 8,887. Meanwhile, the price of low-quality rice in August this year reached Rp 8,689, up 2.3% from the previous month's Rp 8,481.

For information, dry paddy rice (GKP) is paddy rice with a maximum moisture content of 25% and a maximum impurity content of 10%. Dry milled rice (GKG) is paddy rice with a maximum moisture content of 14% and a maximum impurity content of 3%.

Rice quality is measured by the percentage of broken grains. Premium quality rice has a maximum broken grain content of 15%, medium-quality rice has a broken grain content of 15.1-25%, and low-quality rice has a broken grain content of over 25%.
