Beef prices in Indonesia in 2025 are projected to fall compared to the previous year, though not significantly.
This is evident from the food price panel data released by the National Food Agency.
Previously, throughout 2024, the price of beef hindquarter in Indonesia fluctuated between IDR 134.88 thousand and IDR 138.07 thousand per kilogram, with an average price of IDR 135.96 thousand per kilogram.
Then in 2025, the price fluctuated in the range of IDR 134.69 thousand to IDR 136.53 thousand per kilogram, with an average price of IDR 135.33 thousand per kilogram.
Based on this data, the average beef price throughout 2025 is 0.5% lower compared to the average price in 2024.
Meanwhile, the beef industry in 2026 has the potential to be volatile. This is because the government is now reducing meat import quotas for private companies.
According to Teguh Boediyana, Executive Director of the Indonesian Meat Entrepreneurs and Processors Association (APPDI), private meat import quotas in 2025 reached 180 thousand tons.
However, in 2026, the quota for private importers is only 30 thousand tons, approximately 16% of this year's total meat import quota, which reached 297 thousand tons.
"If there is no adequate quota, the consequence will be volatility, and the easiest thing for businesses to do is lay off employees," said Teguh, as reported by Antara, Saturday (January 10, 2026).
