Almost 85% of Indonesian Corn Farmer Households Did Not Receive Seed Aid in 2024

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), one of the hindering factors for agricultural businesses is the difficulty in obtaining superior seeds, due to both limited stock and relatively high prices.

BPS also found that the majority of households engaged in corn farming in Indonesia did not receive seed assistance.

Out of 36,363 surveyed corn farming households, almost 85% did not receive such assistance.

Furthermore, 6.02% received seed assistance from the central government, 8.13% from local governments, and less than 1% received it from state-owned enterprises/private companies, individuals, and others.

"The percentage of corn farming households receiving seed assistance is still low," BPS stated in its report.

BPS believes this finding can be used as evaluation material for better policy-making in the future.

In addition to seeds, the percentage of corn farming households that did not receive fertilizer assistance in 2024 was also quite high, at 35.10%.

Meanwhile, those who received fertilizer assistance from the central government reached 54.02%, local governments 9.47%, individuals 0.72%, state-owned enterprises/private companies 0.14%, and other sources 0.55%.
