Indonesia's BPS Projects National Rice Production at 55.27 Million Tons in 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) estimates that national rice production reached 45.61 million tons of dry milled rice (GKG) in January-September 2021. This figure is up 0.14% compared to the same period the previous year, which was 45.55 million tons of GKG.

Meanwhile, the potential rice production is estimated at 9.66 million tons of GKG in October-December 2021. As a result, the total potential rice production is estimated to reach 55.27 million tons of GKG throughout this year. This figure is an increase of 1.14% compared to last year's 54.65 million tons of GKG.

In 2021, the highest rice production occurred in March, at 9.67 million tons of GKG. Meanwhile, the lowest rice production occurred in January, at only 2.08 million tons of GKG.

In 2020, the highest rice production occurred in April, at 9.77 million tons of GKG. The lowest rice production occurred in January and December, at 1.62 million tons of GKG.

East Java, Central Java, and West Java have the largest potential rice production in 2021. Details are as follows: the potential rice production in East Java is estimated at 9.91 million tons of GKG.

The potential rice production in Central Java reaches 9.77 million tons of GKG this year. Meanwhile, the potential rice production in West Java is 9.35 million tons of GKG.

Furthermore, the potential rice production in Riau Islands, DKI Jakarta, and West Papua is the lowest in 2021. The potential rice production in Riau Islands is only 0.96 million tons this year.

Jakarta has a potential rice production of 3.47 million tons. Meanwhile, the potential rice production in West Papua is only 25.29 million tons.
