Farmer Welfare Improved in 2022, Especially for Horticultural Farmers

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) report, the farmer exchange rate index (NTP), which reflects the national level of farmer welfare, stood at 107.33 in 2022, a 2.57% increase (year-on-year/yoy) compared to 2021.

A breakdown by subsector shows the highest welfare increase occurred among horticultural farmers, with a 7.03% (yoy) increase in NTP to 108.74 in 2022.

Next, the people's plantation NTP rose by 4.34% (yoy) to 126.22, and the livestock NTP increased by 2.07% (yoy) to 101.24.

Meanwhile, the fisheries NTP rose by 1.7% (yoy) to 105.74, and the food crop NTP only increased slightly by 0.62% (yoy) to 98.82 in the same period.

Spatially, the highest NTP increase was in West Kalimantan, rising 9.84% (yoy) to 141.34. This was followed by Jambi, which increased by 6.45% (yoy) to 135.08, and Aceh, which rose by 6.19% (yoy) to 107.46.

Conversely, West Sulawesi's NTP fell the most in 2022, declining by 3.54% (yoy) to 107.33. West Papua's NTP then decreased by 2.03% (yoy) to 100.12, and West Nusa Tenggara's decreased by 1.35% (yoy) to 105.7.
