According to Samhadi, Vice Secretary General of the Indonesian People's Poultry Breeders Association, the price of eggs is generally predicted to increase until September 2023.
Samhadi stated that the increase in egg prices this year is influenced by the increase in the price of corn for chicken feed from Rp6,000 per kg to Rp7,200 per kg.
"So, the price of feed, especially corn, which is expensive, forms a higher production cost than usual, so the price of eggs is expensive because the livestock feed is also expensive," said Samhadi, as reported by *Katadata.co.id*, Thursday (25/5/2023).
Samhadi also assessed that the price increase is due to an increase in demand for eggs for social assistance (bansos) programs.
"Demand (for eggs) is increasing, on the other hand, it is indeed beneficial for farmers, but we cannot produce a large quantity of eggs due to the high price of feed," said Samhadi.
