National Well-being of Food Crop Farmers in West Nusa Tenggara Highest in Indonesia in November 2021

A significant portion of Indonesia's population depends on the agricultural sector for their livelihood. The welfare of Indonesian farmers is reflected in the Farmer Exchange Rate Index (NTP). According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province boasts the highest level of farmer welfare nationwide for food crop farmers.

In November 2021, NTB's Food Crop Farmer Exchange Rate Index (NTPP) stood at 107.74 points. For reference, the base year for the index is 2018=100.

This data indicates that the welfare of food crop farmers in NTB has increased by 7.74% since the index's base year in 2018. Their welfare level surpasses the national average of 99.48 and is the highest among all provinces.

The provinces with the next highest levels of food crop farmer welfare are North Sulawesi (NTPP 105.89), followed by West Papua (NTPP 104.13), West Sulawesi (NTPP 103.45), and Central Java (NTPP 103.34).

East Java follows with an NTPP of 103.24, then Gorontalo (NTPP 103.07), Riau Islands (NTPP 103.2), and Papua and Bengkulu with NTPPs of 99.8 and 99.55 respectively.

Of the ten provinces with the highest food crop farmer welfare, two have NTPPs below 100. An NTPP > 100 indicates a surplus for food crop farmers—their income exceeds their expenses.

An NTPP = 100 signifies that farmers are breaking even; their income equals their expenses. An NTPP < 100 means farmers are experiencing a deficit; their income is less than their expenses.
