According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the national open unemployment rate (TPT) in February 2025 reached 4.76%.
This figure is down 0.06 percentage points compared to the February of the previous year, which was 4.82%.
However, when broken down by region, the decrease in the TPT was only observed in 19 provinces. Unemployment rates increased in the other 19 provinces.
The largest increase in unemployment occurred in Papua Province.
Over the past year, Papua's TPT increased by 1.11 percentage points, from 5.81% (February 2024) to 6.92% (February 2025).
A significant increase was also seen in Central Papua, Southwest Papua, and Highland Papua, where the TPT increased by between 0.5 and 1 percentage point, as shown in the graph.
The following is a breakdown of the TPT figures in the 19 provinces that experienced an increase in unemployment between February 2024 and February 2025:
1. Papua: increased from 5.81% to 6.92%
2. Central Papua: increased from 2.49% to 3.55%
3. Southwest Papua: increased from 6.02% to 6.61%
4. Highland Papua: increased from 1.18% to 1.68%
5. Bangka Belitung Islands: increased from 3.85% to 4.17%
6. Riau: increased from 3.85% to 4.12%
7. South Papua: increased from 4.75% to 4.90%
8. West Sulawesi: increased from 3.02% to 3.17%
9. Jakarta: increased from 6.03% to 6.18%
10. North Maluku: increased from 4.16% to 4.26%
11. Bengkulu: increased from 3.17% to 3.24%
12. Gorontalo: increased from 3.05% to 3.12%
13. East Nusa Tenggara: increased from 3.17% to 3.23%
14. South Sulawesi: increased from 4.90% to 4.96%
15. South Kalimantan: increased from 3.89% to 3.94%
16. North Sulawesi: increased from 5.98% to 6.03%
17. Southeast Sulawesi: increased from 3.22% to 3.27%
18. Jambi: increased from 4.45% to 4.48%
19. West Kalimantan: increased from 4.20% to 4.23%
