According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Indonesia's total installed electricity generation capacity reached 91,165 megawatts (MW) in 2023.

During the same period, the capacity of gas/steam/gas engine power plants (PLTG/GU/MG) grew by 54%, contributing 25% to the total installed capacity in 2023.

Meanwhile, diesel power plants (PLTD) shrank by 25.3%, contributing 5% to the total installed capacity in 2023.
