Driven by Increased Electricity Sales, PLN's Business Revenue Increased by 6.74% in the First Half of 2021

PT PLN (Persero) reported positive performance in the first half of 2021. PLN recorded revenue of Rp 175.9 trillion (unaudited) until June 2021, a 6.74% increase compared to the same period last year, which was Rp 164.8 trillion.

This increase in revenue was supported by electricity sales, compensation income, and other income streams. Furthermore, several steps and innovations implemented by the company through the PLN transformation program supported the increase in electricity sales.

Electricity sales by PLN in the first half of 2021 reached Rp 140.5 trillion. This figure is up 3.7% compared to the same period last year, which was Rp 135.4 trillion. This increase was driven by sales intensification and extensification programs.

Meanwhile, revenue from government electricity subsidies slightly decreased to Rp 24.5 trillion from Rp 25 trillion. PLN also received compensation of Rp 8.9 trillion and other income of Rp 1.8 trillion.

For information, PLN recorded a net profit of Rp 6.60 trillion in the first half of 2021. This figure is up approximately 2,500% from the same period the previous year, which was Rp 251.60 billion.
