PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts the peak of the Idul Fitri exodus on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road (Japek) at Km 66 will fall on H-3 Lebaran, or Wednesday, April 19, 2023. An estimated 138,000 vehicles are expected to traverse the toll road.

“This number is up 154% compared to normal traffic of 54,000 vehicles, or a 2% increase from the 2022 Idul Fitri exodus peak of 135,000 vehicles,” said Jasa Marga President Director Subakti Syukur in a press release on Thursday (April 6, 2023).

Meanwhile, he continued, the peak of the return flow is predicted to occur on H+2 Lebaran, or Tuesday, April 25, 2023, with an estimated 178,000 vehicles. This represents a 237% increase compared to normal traffic of 53,000 vehicles, or a 5% increase from the 2022 Idul Fitri return flow peak of 170,000 vehicles.

Subakti urged the public to avoid traveling during the predicted peak hours of the exodus and return flow, and to avoid peak travel times, such as after the suhur (pre-dawn meal) or breaking of the fast.

To mitigate traffic congestion during the peak exodus and return flow, Jasa Marga is offering a 20% discount on the furthest toll fares on the Japek Toll Road.

This toll discount is only valid at two toll gates: Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (GT) on the Japek Toll Road towards/from the Trans Java route, and Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate on the Cipularang Toll Road towards/from Bandung.

The toll discount on the Japek Toll Road will be in effect from Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 6:00 AM WIB until Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 6:00 AM WIB. During the return flow, the discount will be valid from Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 6:00 AM WIB until Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 6:00 AM WIB.

"The discount will not be applied during the predicted peak hours of the exodus and return flow to ensure better traffic distribution," said Subakti. He hopes that the toll discount will encourage and guide the public to plan their Idul Fitri trips better.
