PLN Compensation from Salary, PLN 2018 Personnel Budget Down 0.75%

State-owned electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to deduct employee salaries to compensate the public affected by the widespread power outage on August 4-5, 2019. PLN will pay Rp 839 billion in compensation. Approximately 40,000 employees will contribute to this compensation.

Based on PLN's financial reports, the average personnel budget from 2014-2018 was Rp 21.1 trillion. Over the past five years, PLN's personnel budget has generally increased. However, in 2018, the personnel expense budget decreased by 0.75% from the previous year to Rp 22.9 trillion.

PLN's production services and performance-based incentives decreased by 1.9% in 2018 from the previous year, falling from Rp 6.5 trillion to Rp 6.3 trillion. The highest increase was in allowances, rising by 5.2% from Rp 2.8 trillion to Rp 2.9 trillion. Meanwhile, work compensation increased by 1.6% to Rp 5.3 trillion, while salaries increased by 1.1% to Rp 5.2 trillion. The budget for other expenses decreased by 8.1% from the previous year to Rp 3.7 trillion.
