Effective today, electricity tariffs for 900 VA increase again.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) scenario, the electricity tariff for 900 VA capable households will increase again on March 1, 2017. The tariff applicable from March 2017 is Rp 1,023 per kWh, a 32 percent increase from the January-February 2017 tariff of Rp 774 per kWh. This scenario, which began on January 1, 2017, will continue in two further stages, namely May 1, 2017, and July 1, 2017. The tariff for 900 VA customers will be adjusted along with 12 other tariff categories every three months.

The Ministry of ESDM has established a three-stage gradual electricity tariff increase scheme for 18.7 million 900 VA customers, through Minister of ESDM Regulation Number 28 of 2016 (Permen ESDM 28/2016). The Ministry of ESDM stated that the increase is a measure to ensure more targeted electricity subsidies. These subsidies will be reallocated to support the equitable development of electricity infrastructure in several regions.
