Several regions in Indonesia are potentially experiencing high rainfall intensity throughout February 2023.
Data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), processed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), indicates that areas with rainfall intensity >500 mm include Bali, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi.
The high rainfall intensity is feared to cause flooding in several areas. PUPR has revealed that at least 352 infrastructure projects are expected to be affected by flooding in February 2023.
The most affected infrastructure is national roads, with 60 locations. Second, public infrastructure, with 53 locations.
Third, there are 26 groundwater locations. Fourth, 23 bridges. Fifth, 22 low-cost apartments (rusun).
PUPR has a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for emergency response if the infrastructure is damaged due to flooding or other natural disasters. The aim is to restore the infrastructure's function for public interest.
"Permanent handling will be programmed immediately after the infrastructure can be re-functioned and the funds have been allocated," wrote PUPR in its release, *Strategy and Implementation of Natural Disaster Mitigation in Indonesia*.
