PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts that the peak of this year's Lebaran exodus will fall on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, and the peak of the return flow on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
"The peak of the exodus is expected to be on D-3 of Lebaran, or Wednesday, April 19, 2023," said Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, as quoted by Antara on Monday (3/4/2023).
Lisye stated that the volume of traffic leaving Jabodetabek during the D-7 to D+7 period of Lebaran 2023 through four main toll gates is estimated to reach 2.78 million vehicles, a 6.77% increase compared to Lebaran 2022, which saw 2.6 million vehicles.
The distribution of outbound traffic from Jabodetabek is dominated by vehicles heading east/Trans Java (52%). This is followed by traffic heading west/Merak (27.8%) and south/Ciawi (20.2%).
Lisye said that the predicted traffic volume during the peak exodus on April 19, 2023, is 138,000 vehicles at KM 66 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, a 2% increase from the peak of the 2022 Lebaran exodus, which saw 135,000 vehicles.
On the other hand, Lisye continued, the volume of traffic entering Jabodetabek during the D-7 to D+7 period of Lebaran 2023 through four main toll gates is estimated at 2.66 million vehicles, a 3.71% increase compared to Lebaran 2022, which saw 2.56 million vehicles.
The distribution of inbound traffic to Jabodetabek is also dominated by vehicles from the east/Trans Java (51.2%), followed by traffic from the west/Merak (28%) and south/Ciawi (20.8%).
Lisye also stated that the predicted traffic volume during the peak return flow on April 25, 2023, is 178,000 vehicles at KM 66 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, a 5% increase from the peak of the 2022 Lebaran return flow, which saw 170,000 vehicles.
Lisye said that, basically, the days leading up to the joint holiday, as announced by the government and moved forward to April 19, 2023, will see a significant surge in traffic.
"Therefore, road users are advised to plan their travel time to the east, south, or west," she said.
