The Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (Jabodebek) Light Rail Transit (LRT) was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on Monday, August 28, 2023.
Coinciding with the inaugural operation and Indonesia's 78th Independence Day, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) offered a 78% discount, resulting in a flat fare of Rp5,000 for all distances. This promotion applied to the entire Jabodebek LRT line from the first day of operation until the end of September 2023.
Meanwhile, the normal Jabodebek LRT fare has been set by the Indonesian Minister of Transportation Decree No. KM 67 of 2023 concerning the Fare for Integrated Light Rail Transportation in the Jabodebek Area to Fulfill Public Service Obligations.
Based on this regulation, the basic Jabodebek LRT fare is set at Rp5,000 for the first kilometer and Rp700 for each subsequent kilometer. KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo stated that the fare discount aims to encourage people to switch from private vehicles to public transportation at a more affordable cost.
