Japanese automotive manufacturers Toyota and Daihatsu remain the dominant players in Indonesia's vehicle market. These two manufacturers control more than half of the country's car sales.
Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), Toyota's retail sales reached 44,093 units from January to February 2022.
Thus, Toyota's market share in the first two months of this year was 29.68% of the total domestic car sales of 148,556 units.
Similarly, Daihatsu's car sales reached 30,628 units (20.6%) in the January-February 2022 period. As a result, these two Japanese automotive manufacturers control 50.3% of car sales in Indonesia.
Other Japanese automotive manufacturers, namely Mitsubishi Motors, sold 20,650 units (13.9%), Honda sold 16,205 units (10.9%), and Suzuki sold 13,465 units (9.1%).
Meanwhile, non-Japanese automotive manufacturers in the top 10 include Wuling, with sales of 3,632 units (2.4%) in the first two months of this year, and Hyundai-Hmid with 2,420 units (1.6%).
These ten automotive manufacturers control 97.4% of car sales in Indonesia.
