Tesla recorded 254,695 electric vehicle deliveries in Q2 2022. This figure represents a year-on-year (YoY) increase of approximately 26.52% compared to Q2 2021.
Broken down by model, deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y totaled 238,533 units in the second quarter. Deliveries of the Tesla Model S and Model X reached 16,162 units.
However, on a quarterly basis, Tesla's vehicle deliveries in Q2 2022 decreased compared to Q1 2022, which reached 310,048 units.
Tesla's electric vehicle production reached 258,589 units in Q2 2022. Production increased by 25.26% year-on-year (YoY), but decreased by 15.33% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) compared to Q1 2022.
The decrease in both deliveries and production on a quarterly basis is attributed to several factors, including operational restrictions at Tesla's Shanghai factory in China due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"But I have tremendous respect for China, for our factory there, and for EV manufacturers in particular. I think they're going to be a force to be reckoned with worldwide," said Elon Musk in an official statement on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
