Hundreds of vehicles have been observed leaving the Jakarta-Bogor-Tangerang-Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area.
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk reported that 951,758 vehicles left the area from D-10 to D-5 of Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr), which is the period from Friday to Wednesday (April 22-27, 2022).
This figure is the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates: Cikupa Toll Gate (towards Merak), Ciawi Toll Gate (towards Puncak), and Cikampek Utama and Kalihurip Utama Toll Gates (towards Trans Java and Bandung).
Jasa Marga recorded that the total volume of vehicles leaving the Jabodetabek area increased by 9.4% compared to the normal traffic volume in November 2021, which totaled 870,371 vehicles.
Of the total vehicles leaving the Jabodetabek area from D-10 to D-5 of Lebaran, the majority, or 471,044 vehicles (49.5%), headed east (Trans Java and Bandung).
Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Dwimawan Heru, explained that the trend of increased traffic leaving Jabodetabek towards the east via the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road towards Cikampek continues.
On D-6, Tuesday (April 26th), traffic increased by 89% compared to normal traffic in November 2021. Jasa Marga recorded another increase of 141% on D-5, Wednesday (April 27th, 2022).
"A total of 74,634 vehicles left Jabodetabek through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, while in the normal period of 2021, it was around 31,023 vehicles," said Heru.
Meanwhile, 289,122 vehicles (30.4%) headed west (Merak), and 191,592 vehicles (20.1%) headed south (Puncak).
Jasa Marga urges travelers to anticipate their journey before entering the toll road. In addition, travelers must ensure that both their vehicles and themselves are in prime condition.
Jasa Marga also reminds travelers to adhere to health protocols, such as wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance at rest areas, ensuring sufficient fuel and electronic money balance, and obeying traffic signs and instructions from officers.
