The Deloitte Global 2022 Gen Z and Millennial Survey reveals that Gen Z and Millennials worldwide are most concerned about managing their finances.
The survey found that 29% of Gen Z respondents cited the cost of living, including housing, transportation, bills, and other expenses, as their primary concern and biggest worry.
The survey also noted that only about half of Gen Z and Millennials feel able to cover their monthly living expenses, while more than a quarter do not feel financially secure.
Driven by these concerns, 43% of Gen Z hold a part-time or second full-time job in addition to their main employment.
Besides the cost of living, climate change is another major concern for Gen Z (24%), followed by unemployment (20%). Mental health (19%) and sexual harassment (17%) also ranked as significant concerns for 19% and 17% of Gen Z respondents, respectively.
Millennials' top five concerns are similar to those of Gen Z, including cost of living (36%), climate change (25%), health/illness (21%), unemployment (20%), and crime (18%).
This survey was conducted between November 2021 and January 2022, involving 14,808 Gen Z respondents and 8,412 Millennials across 46 surveyed countries.
