The latest report from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) shows a decline in domestic and export sales of motorcycles in September 2023.

However, sales figures remain relatively high, exceeding 500,000 units per month.

In September 2023, domestic motorcycle sales reached 509,946 units, a decrease of 4.57% compared to August 2023 (month-on-month/mom).

Export sales volume reached 51,318 units, down 7.11% month-on-month (mom) and weakened by 31.58% year-on-year (yoy).

In terms of type, scooter motorcycle sales still contributed the most.

Scooter sales accounted for 89.76% of total domestic sales and 51.57% of total exports in September 2023.

Sport motorcycles contributed 5.14% to total domestic sales and 24.77% to total exports.

Meanwhile, underbone motorcycles contributed 5.09% to domestic sales and 23.66% to exports.

Cumulatively, domestic motorcycle sales from January to September 2023 reached 4,721,683 units, an increase of 30.7% compared to the January-September 2022 period (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc) which amounted to 3,612,360 units.

On the other hand, total Indonesian motorcycle exports from January to September 2023 reached 428,730 units, down 24.58% (ctc).
