What are the Most Popular Investment Types Among the Public?

Investment is an activity of investing capital for a considerable period with the expectation of obtaining future profits. According to a survey by Zigi.id and the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), the majority, or 66.7% of respondents, consider it important to have investments.

The survey details the types of investments most favored by respondents. Gold emerged as the most popular investment choice, selected by 58.5% of respondents.

Besides gold, land is also a favorite investment type among the public. 56.7% of respondents chose to invest in land. Furthermore, 41.7% of respondents were interested in investing in property, such as houses, apartments, or shop houses.

Next, 31.3% of respondents were interested in investing in businesses/enterprises such as online shops, clothing businesses, and others. Livestock also became a popular investment choice, with 17.6% of respondents selecting it.

Capital market/stock investments are also starting to attract public attention. 14.5% of respondents admitted to being interested in investing in these instruments. Bank deposits were favored by 11.2% of respondents. Meanwhile, Cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoin, was only favored by 7.8% of respondents.

KIC conducted a survey of 5,204 respondents aged >15 years who access the internet in Indonesia. The survey was conducted from September 6-12, 2021, using an online survey method.
