Until October 10, 2022, Garuda Indonesia served 22 international and 69 domestic destinations.
Next year, Garuda Indonesia will reopen the Jakarta-Melbourne route starting November 23, 2023.
"The reopening of the route to and from Melbourne is one of Garuda Indonesia's efforts to optimize the momentum of national economic recovery, especially through the tourism sector," said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra in a press release on Sunday (9/10/2022).
The Jakarta-Melbourne route will be served using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. This aircraft has a capacity of 251 passengers with a configuration of 36 business class and 215 economy class seats.
Irfan explained that this service will operate twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, using flight number GA 71. The aircraft will depart from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 9:00 PM WIB and arrive at Melbourne Airport the next day at 7:35 AM local time.
Then, the Melbourne-Jakarta flight will depart from Melbourne Airport at 9:10 AM local time and arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 12:15 PM WIB using flight number GA 717.
With this route, according to Irfan, it will complement the Sydney-Denpasar (round trip) flight route which has previously resumed operations.
