The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) reported that the number of public transportation users reached 1,064,994 people on the fifth day after Eid al-Fitr (H+5), Tuesday (April 16, 2024).
This data was monitored from the Integrated Eid al-Fitr Transportation Central Post 2024 at the Kemenhub office in Jakarta. The monitoring covered 111 terminals, 16 ferry ports, 51 airports, 173 train stations, 42 toll gates, and 20 arterial roads leading in and out of Jabodetabek.
Kemenhub spokesperson Adita Irawati stated that this number is a 12% increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 950,847 passengers.
"On H+5 Lebaran, or the first day back to work, the number of public transportation users returning still reached 1 million passengers. This figure is quite high," said Adita in her official statement on Tuesday (April 17, 2024).
On that date, the busiest mode of public transportation was air transport with 265,156 passengers.
This number increased by 6.37% from the same period last year and increased by 83.27% from the normal daily movement.
Next, ferry transport had 261,120 passengers. The volume increased by 7.57% from the same period last year and soared by 962.46% compared to the usual daily passenger count.
Following this, road transport had 251,194 passengers. This number increased by 20.24% from the same period last year and surged by 128.64% from a normal day.
Train passengers reached 195,607, up 14.49% from last year's Eid al-Fitr return flow and grew by 84.99% compared to daily passenger movement.
Meanwhile, sea transport was the lowest, with 78,122 passengers. The number decreased slightly by 1.21% from H+5 Lebaran 2023, but increased by 84.88% compared to the daily passenger volume.
