There are many Indonesians who are interested in using electric cars or battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Their level of interest is even considered high on a global scale.

This is evident from the Ipsos survey report titled Mobility Report 2026.

In November-December 2025, Ipsos surveyed around 23,700 adults across 31 countries.

Indonesia was one of the countries surveyed. The number of respondents was around 500, with characteristics that are more urban, more educated, and/or more affluent than the general population.

As a result, 60% of respondents in Indonesia stated that they are interested in using electric cars, exceeding the global average of only 47%.

This figure also places Indonesia at the top of the 31 countries surveyed, on par with Mexico.

"Interest in electric vehicles is lower in many developed economies. French, US, Canadian, and German citizens are the most uncertain about the appeal of electric vehicles," they said.
