PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) reported that as of Wednesday (4/3/2026) at 09:00 WIB, tickets for departures from March 11 to April 1, 2026 have only sold 47.1% of the total 4,498,696 tickets provided.
"There are still about 2.37 million seats available that the public can use to plan their return trips or reverse migration," wrote KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in her statement on Wednesday (4/3/2026).
On long-distance train services, tickets sold reached 57.9% or about 3.57 million of the total available tickets. Meanwhile, the occupancy of local trains only reached 5.4% of the capacity of 926,936 seats.
KAI projects that the occupancy of local trains will increase as the departure date approaches, given that ticket bookings usually start to increase on H-7 (the seventh day before the festival).
Below are the departure dates of long-distance trains with the lowest seat occupancy rates, as of March 4, 2026 at 09:00 WIB:
- April 1, 2026 (H+10): 22,154 tickets sold out of 161,100 seats (13.8%)
- March 31, 2026 (H+9): 33,785 tickets sold out of 161,100 seats (21%)
- March 30, 2026 (H+8): 51,657 tickets sold out of 163,432 seats (31.6%)
- March 11, 2026 (H-10): 40,846 tickets sold out of 159,404 seats (25.6%)
- March 12, 2026 (H-9): 60,419 tickets sold out of 159,404 seats (37.9%)
"In general, there are still seats available. We urge the public who will use KAI's transportation services to plan their trips and take advantage of dates with low occupancy," said Anne.
KAI also noted that there are three favorite departure stations for passengers during the 2026 Lebaran migration, namely Pasar Senen Station, Gambir Station, and Bekasi Station.
