According to the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), approximately 119.5 million people are expected to travel during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays in 2025/2026.
This number is equivalent to 42.01% of Indonesia's total population.
Kemenhub also estimates that, among those who will travel during the Nataru holidays, approximately 51.12 million people will use private cars.
"The high public interest in using private vehicles indicates the need for more intensive traffic management, especially on toll roads and access to transportation hubs," said Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi in a press release on Friday (5/12/2025).
