According to CleanTechnica data, electric vehicle sales in the Chinese market reached 1.02 million units in May 2025.
During this period, the Geely Geome Xingyuan was again the best-selling electric vehicle model in China, with sales of 38,715 units. This achievement was reached for two consecutive months.
"In addition to its competitive price, support from leading automotive manufacturers like Geely is also an advantage of this model," wrote CleanTechnica in its report on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Below it are the BYD Song and BYD Seagull, which recorded sales of 38,680 units and 31,105 units, respectively.
The BYD Song sales figures are a combination of battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) types.

CleanTechnica also noted that in May 2025, China's car exports reached 200,000 units, up 81% year-on-year (yoy). Although 53% of its domestic market is already electric vehicles, the share for exports is only 45%.
"China exports more conventional vehicles than electric vehicles sold in its domestic market," wrote CleanTechnica.
