PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, reported that 2.5 million train tickets have been sold for the 2025 Lebaran homecoming period.
"As of March 22, 2025, a total of 2,517,296 tickets have been sold," said KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Anne Purba, in a statement reported by *Antara* on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Of that number, 69.36%, or 2.38 million tickets, were for long-distance trains. 11.22%, or 128,808 tickets, were for local train departures.
Anne explained that local train ticket sales tend to increase closer to departure dates, given the more spontaneous purchasing patterns of people traveling shorter distances.
She is optimistic that local train ticket sales will grow as the peak of the homecoming and return flows approach.
KAI has prepared more than 3.4 million tickets for the 2025 Lebaran transportation period, which runs from March 21 to April 11, 2025.
