Number of Electric Vehicle Infrastructure in 2024

PT PLN (Persero) continues to develop electric vehicle infrastructure to enhance the convenience of electric vehicle (EV) users in Indonesia.

PLN increased the number of public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) to 3,233 units in 2024, a 299% surge from 1,081 units the previous year.

Similarly, the number of home charging services (HCS) facilities increased to 28,356 units in 2024, a 302% jump from 9,393 units in 2023. PLN also added 9,956 public charging stations (SPLU) in 2024.

PLN's President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that PLN is committed to developing a robust electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia through the massive development of supporting EV infrastructure. This step is part of the effort to reduce carbon emissions towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.

"The presence of an increasingly robust EV ecosystem through the availability of electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout Indonesia will undoubtedly provide convenience for users. This increase shows a positive response from the public to switch to more environmentally friendly electric vehicles," said Darmawan in a press release on the PLN website, Monday (February 10, 2025).

Not only has the infrastructure increased, but transactions and electricity consumption from EVs have also experienced significant growth. Transactions at SPKLU in 2024 reached 402,509, a 337% increase from only 119,600 transactions the previous year.
