Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), wholesale sales of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) in the domestic market reached 3,542 units in February 2024.
Volume decreased by 26.39% compared to January 2024 (month-on-month/mom), which reached 4,812 units.
In February 2024, the highest hybrid vehicle wholesale sales were achieved by the Toyota Innova Zenix HEV, with 1,169 units sold.
Next were Suzuki models, namely the Ertiga Hybrid and XL7 Hybrid, which sold 459 units and 428 units respectively.
The following is a list of the top 10 best-selling hybrid cars in the domestic automotive market based on wholesale sales in February 2024:
1. Toyota Innova Zenix HEV: 1,169 units
2. Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid: 459 units
3. Suzuki XL7 Hybrid: 428 units
4. Honda CR-V: 334 units
5. Suzuki Alpha Hybrid: 290 units
6. Toyota Yaris Cross HEV: 248 units
7. Toyota Alphard HEV: 217 units
8. Lexus LM 350h Hybrid: 107 units
9. Wuling Almaz HEV: 80 units
10. Lexus RX350h: 68 units
Cumulatively, wholesale sales of hybrid vehicles during January-February 2024 contributed 2.5% to total national car sales of 140,274 units.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that starting this year, there will be electric vehicle battery factories operating in Indonesia.
The factory is owned by PT Hyundai LG Indonesia (HLI) Green Power, located in Karawang, West Java. This makes Indonesia the first electric vehicle battery cell producer in Southeast Asia.
"The first 10 Gigawatt (GW) electric vehicle battery ecosystem factory from HLI will be inaugurated around May," said Bahlil in a press conference on Monday (18/3/2024).
