The global economic recovery is also being felt by various industrial sectors in Indonesia, including the automotive industry. This is evident in the resurgence of orders for Indonesian-made cars to various countries.
Until November 2021, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) remained the largest contributor to Indonesia's car exports. Daihatsu exported 108,500 units of cars to various countries throughout January-November 2021.
Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), this figure accounts for 40.6% of the total national automotive exports in Completely Built Up (CBU) form, totaling 267,224 units. Furthermore, this figure also shows a 37.49% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
On December 17, 2021, Daihatsu exported more than 1,200 vehicles to the Philippines via Patimban Port, Subang, West Java. This export coincided with the handover of Patimban Port management from the government to the private sector.
Not only does Daihatsu manufacture and export its own cars, ADM also exports cars for the Toyota brand, such as the Avanza, Rush, Raize, and Wio, as well as Mazda's Bongo model.
The next largest vehicle exporter was Toyota with 61,044 units (22.8%). Followed by Mitsubishi Motors with exports reaching 46,704 units (17.5%), then Suzuki with 39,571 units (12.24%).
Honda also exported 6,840 units (2.6%). Next was Hino with 2,805 units (1%), DFSK with 870 units (0.3%), and Hyundai - HIM and Wuling with 836 units (0.3%) and 54 units (0.0%) respectively.
