Since 2014, Grab has received funding from investors eight times. According to TechinAsia.com, this online transportation operator from Malaysia has received funding reported five times, totaling US$1.43 billion or approximately Rp 18.6 trillion. The value of the three other funding rounds remains undisclosed.
Grab's first funding, a Series A round in April 2014 from Vertex Ventures and 500 Startups, was undisclosed. Subsequently, from May 2014 to September 2016, it received Series B through Series F funding, all of which were publicly disclosed. Then, in December 2016, Grab received two further funding rounds from Tokyo Century and Honda, but the amounts remain undisclosed.
In 2017, Grab planned to invest US$700 million, or approximately Rp 9.3 trillion, in Indonesia through 2020 with its Grab 4 Indonesia expansion program. This online transportation service provider, founded by Anthony Tan in 2012, would face stiff competition from Go-Jek, founded by Nadiem Makarim.
