The Indonesia China High-Speed Rail Company (KCIC) reported that the number of passengers on the Whoosh High-Speed Train reached 18,000 on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
This is the highest number since the commercial operation of the Whoosh High-Speed Train began on October 17, 2023.
Specifically, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, the number of Whoosh High-Speed Train passengers reached 18,053, with an occupancy rate of approximately 94% to 100%.
This number represents a 33% increase compared to the previous week, when 13,490 passengers traveled on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
KCIC President Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi stated that the company had increased the number of Whoosh High-Speed Train trips by 28%, from 25 trips per day to 32 trips per day, to accommodate the high public demand.
"This is the highest number of trips per day since the Whoosh High-Speed Train commenced operations," said Dwiyana, as reported by Katadata.co.id on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
According to Dwiyana, public interest in using the Whoosh High-Speed Train is very high because many people are traveling for weekend getaways, business, and other purposes.
KCIC reported that 216,000 tickets have been sold and booked by the public for departures up to Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers transported up to Saturday, November 4, 2023, reached 170,000.
Currently, tickets for the Whoosh High-Speed Train for November are being sold gradually through the Whoosh application, Access by KAI, Livin by Mandiri, BRImo, the ticket.kcic.co.id website, and ticket counters and vending machines at stations.
Dwiyana ensured that KCIC regularly evaluates the Whoosh High-Speed Train service, from evaluating trip schedules and transportation integration to station facilities and passenger services.
The Whoosh High-Speed Train is the first high-speed rail service in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, operating at speeds of up to 350 km per hour.
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail line is 142.3 km long, with 13 tunnels, and serves four stations: Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.
