A report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) had 1,252 commuter rail cars (KRL) by December 2020.
Throughout 2020, KCI added 120 rail cars (JR 205 series KRL) to meet the passenger transportation needs in the Jabodetabek area.
Between 2010 and 2020, the largest addition of KRL units occurred in 2013, reaching 180 rail cars (205 series KRL). The following year saw an addition of 176 rail cars (JR 205 series KRL).
Meanwhile, the lowest addition of KRL units occurred in 2016 and 2017, with 60 rail cars each. The type of KRL added in 2017 was the Tokyo Metro Series 6000 model. The next lowest addition was in 2018, with 68 rail cars (JR 205 series KRL and Tokyo Metro Series 6000).
In 2020, KCI operated 964 trips daily, an increase from 938 trips the previous year.
The highest number of Jabodetabek commuter train trips was on the Bogor/Depok - Jakarta Kota route, with 220 trips. This represents a 0.46% growth compared to the previous year. The next highest number of trips was on the Rangkas/Maja - Jakarta/Tanah Abang route, with 207 trips and a growth of 5.08% compared to the previous year.
