Indonesia's Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) report shows that domestic wholesale car sales reached 94,087 units in January 2023. This figure surged 11.8% year-on-year (YoY).

Gaikindo Secretary General Kukuh Kumara stated that this performance indicates an improving automotive market in Indonesia since the Covid-19 pandemic.

By brand, Toyota still led wholesale car sales in January 2023 with 28,970 units. Daihatsu followed with 18,194 units and Honda with 15,753 units.

Gaikindo had targeted national car sales of 975,000 units for 2023. This means that January 2023 wholesale car sales only reached 9.64% of that target.
