The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 2 million domestic airline passengers in September 2021. This figure surged by 84.04% compared to the previous month, which saw 1.1 million passengers.
This increase in domestic airline passengers is the highest since July, when it plummeted by 71.7% to only 1 million passengers. In June 2021, the number of passengers reached 3.52 million.
The number of domestic airline passengers in September 2021 also increased by 3.72% compared to the same period the previous year, which reached 1.9 million passengers. The increase in domestic airline passengers in September 2021 occurred across all airports. The highest number of passengers originated from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, with 560,600 passengers. This figure is up 74.48% from August.
Meanwhile, at Juanda Airport in Surabaya, the number of domestic airline passengers increased by 70.67% to 166,400. At Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, domestic airline passengers increased by 84.16% to 122,100.
Domestic airline passengers at Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar increased by 140.30% to 113,900. At Kualanamu Airport in Medan, the number of domestic airline passengers increased by 62.78% to 80,900. Passengers at other airports increased by 89.72% to 921,100.
