According to a report by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), there were 64 commercial aircraft accidents worldwide in 2022.
Globally, the ratio reached 2.05 accidents per 1 million flights in 2022, an increase from 1.93 in 2021.
When broken down by region, the highest flight accident ratio in 2022 was in West and Central Africa.
This region includes Benin, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Chad, Ghana, Cameroon, Congo, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Senegal, and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in 2022, the lowest accident ratio was in Europe and the North Atlantic, as well as Asia and the Pacific.
The Europe and North Atlantic region includes Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and surrounding areas.
Asia and the Pacific includes Australia, New Zealand, China, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and surrounding areas.
