Many Indonesians are considering buying electric vehicles due to their environmentally friendly nature. This is recorded in a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) survey report titled *Indonesia Electric Vehicle Consumer Survey 2023*.
According to the survey, 80% of respondents are interested in buying electric vehicles because they are environmentally friendly.
"The majority of our respondents agree that being environmentally friendly is the most important aspect for those intending to buy electric vehicles," PwC stated in its report.
Furthermore, 61% of respondents want to buy electric vehicles because of their image as vehicles of the future, and 41% because of their lower operating costs compared to gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles.
Additionally, 38% of respondents are interested in buying electric vehicles because of their quieter engine noise compared to conventional cars, 37% because of lower maintenance costs, 33% because of their advanced engine technology, and 31% because of government incentives.
Moreover, 23% of respondents cited long battery life, 22% the availability of information on electric vehicle technology, 19% affordable prices, and 19% promotions as reasons for their interest.
This survey was conducted among Indonesian consumers in eight major cities from June to September 2023. These cities include Jakarta, Bekasi, Surabaya, Tangerang, Bogor, Medan, Semarang, and Depok.
PwC did not disclose the number of respondents. However, they stated that 64% of the respondents were male and 34% were female.
The majority of respondents were millennials (72%), followed by Generation X (21%), and Generation Z (7%).
