Most Traffic Accident Victims Are of Working Age

Traffic accident victims in Indonesia are most numerous in the productive age group (26-55 years) every year. Based on data from PT Jasa Raharja (Persero), there were 56,490 victims of accidents in the productive age group in 2018.

This number then decreased to 61,170 in 2019. A year later, the number of accident victims from the productive age group was 53,267.

Meanwhile, the number of traffic accident victims from the productive age group reached 31,751 from January to September 2021. This represents 40.4% of the total traffic accident victims for the year, which totaled 78,660.

Traffic accident victims from the student age group (11-25 years) are next. The number was recorded at 47,400 in 2018 and 50,015 the following year.

In 2020, the number of traffic accident victims from the student age group was 42,604. Meanwhile, there were 26,355 traffic accident victims from the student age group up to September of this year.

Based on gender, the majority of traffic accident victims are male. The proportion was 68% in 2018-2019, then increased to 69% in 2020 and throughout this year.

Meanwhile, only 32% of traffic accident victims were female in 2018-2019. This figure then decreased to 31% in the last two years.
