The government implemented operational capacity restrictions on several modes of transportation during the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). The Ministry of Transportation announced that the passenger capacity for intercity airplanes, sea vessels, and trains during the PPKM period is 70%.
Before the Emergency PPKM was implemented, the operational capacity of airplanes and sea vessels was 100%. Meanwhile, the operational capacity of intercity trains remained the same as during the Emergency PPKM.
Furthermore, the operational capacity of buses, ferries, and non-commuter line city trains was 50% each. Before the PPKM was implemented, the operational capacity of buses and ferries was 85%. Meanwhile, the operational capacity of non-commuter line city trains remained the same as during the Emergency PPKM.
Next, the operational capacity of Commuter Line (KRL) trains was 32%. Before the Emergency PPKM, the capacity was 45%.
In addition to capacity, the government also regulated the operating hours of transportation modes. This was done to implement the principle of physical distancing and avoid crowds.
