Toyota Vios Rumored to Stop Production in Indonesia; Check Its Sales

Production of the Toyota Vios in Indonesia is reportedly being discontinued. This news is supported by a video on Instagram showing Toyota factory workers carrying signs that read "Sayonara Vios."

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) Corporate Affairs Director Bob Azzam neither denied nor confirmed the discontinuation of Toyota Vios production.

"Together with TAM, we ensure the supply of the Vios model for consumers is maintained. Furthermore, we will inform media friends in due time," as reported by TrenOto on Tuesday (August 2nd).

Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), the Toyota Vios sold (wholesale) 22 units in June 2022. This figure is more than double the previous month's sales of 10 units.

Meanwhile, cumulatively from January to June 2022, the Japanese automaker sold 121 units. This figure is a 69.52% decrease compared to the same period last year.

Toyota Vios sales in the first half of this year are the lowest in the last four years. The following are Toyota Vios sales in the first half of 2019-2022:

* H1 2019: 234 units
* H1 2020: 162 units
* H1 2021: 397 units
* H1 2022: 121 units

The Toyota Vios in Indonesia is available in 3 variants. First, the E M/T type is sold starting from Rp 293.7 million. Second, the G M/T type is priced starting from Rp 311.5 million, and the G CVT type starts from Rp 325.7 million.
