Tourist buses are special transportation used to take tourists on sightseeing trips.
According to data from the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the number of tourist buses in Indonesia reached 13,746 units in 2022. This number increased slightly by 0.55% (year-on-year/yoy) from the previous year.
By province, Central Java is the province with the most tourist buses in Indonesia. A total of 3,087 units were recorded last year.
West Java is ranked second with 2,986 tourist bus units, followed by DKI Jakarta with 2,879 units.

1. Central Java: 3,087 units
2. West Java: 2,986 units
3. DKI Jakarta: 2,879 units
4. East Java: 2,038 units
5. Banten: 957 units
6. Bali: 891 units
7. Yogyakarta Special Region: 602 units
8. Lampung: 74 units
9. Riau: 53 units
10. West Sumatra: 50 units
Kemenhub also recorded a total of 19,041 bus companies in Indonesia in 2022. This number surged by 71.90% (yoy).
These companies comprise intercity interprovincial bus companies (AKAP), interprovincial shuttle services (AJAP), tourism, rental transportation, heavy equipment transportation, and hazardous and toxic material (B3) transportation.
