2023 Australian MotoGP Classification: Bagnaia Extends Lead Over Jorge Martin

The 2023 MotoGP race at Phillip Island Circuit, Australia, was scheduled from Friday (20/10/2023) to Sunday (22/10/2023). However, due to bad weather, the sprint race on the final day had to be stopped with 14 laps remaining. As a result, no additional points were awarded to any rider.

In the race, Prima Pramac Racing rider Johann Zarco won with a time of 40 minutes 39.446 seconds. This was Zarco's first MotoGP class victory.

This achievement was only 0.201 seconds faster than Francesco Bagnaia, the leading Ducati rider who finished second.

Therefore, Zarco, who was previously ranked 7th in the provisional 2023 MotoGP standings, jumped to 5th place after the Australian race. He now has 187 points.

Francesco Bagnaia still leads the provisional 2023 MotoGP standings after the Australian race, with 339 points.

Bagnaia, also known as Peco, further extended his lead over his rival, Jorge Martin, who is in second place with 339 points, a 27-point difference from Bagnaia.

Marco Bezzecchi is currently in third place in the 2023 MotoGP standings with 293 points.

The next 2023 MotoGP race will be held at the Chang International Circuit, Thailand on October 29, 2023.
