Indonesia's gas exports showed positive performance in 2021. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the value of Indonesia's gas exports throughout 2021 reached US$7.48 billion, a 38.6% increase compared to the previous year.
The trend shows that the value of gas exports increased from 2016 to 2018. However, the figures decreased until 2020 and only increased again in 2021.
Despite the increase in value, the volume of gas exports decreased by 3.2% to 17.68 million tons in 2021 compared to the previous year.
Based on destination country, Singapore was the main destination for Indonesian gas exports. The value of gas exports to Singapore reached US$2.77 billion with a volume of 6.2 million tons throughout 2021.
China was in second place with gas export value reaching US$2.27 billion last year. Then, the value of gas exports to Japan and South Korea were US$900.5 million and US$792.7 million respectively.
Indonesia also exported gas to Taiwan worth US$522.9 million, and to Malaysia and Mexico worth US$138.8 million and US$42.5 million respectively.
