In 2022, Indomaret was the modern retail store with the most outlets in Indonesia in the category of food, beverages, and daily necessities.
This is evident from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) report titled *Indonesia: Retail Foods*, July 2023 edition.
Based on Euromonitor data compiled in the report, in 2022 Indomaret, managed by Salim Group, had 19,996 outlets, with total sales reaching US$7.6 billion.
Alfamart, owned by PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk, ranked second with 17,394 outlets and sales of US$7.62 billion.
"Approximately 92% of the sales value of supermarkets in Indonesia comes from these two companies, which have modern systems, integrated distribution systems, and centralized procurement," the USDA wrote in its report.
Alfamidi ranked third with 2,273 outlets, while other supermarkets had significantly fewer outlets, as shown in the chart above.
