Palm Oil Export Volume Drops 32.5% in September 2021

The Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI) reported that Indonesia's palm oil exports reached 2.88 million tons in September 2021. This figure is down 32.5% from the previous month's 4.27 million tons.

Meanwhile, the value of palm oil exports was recorded at US$ 3.11 trillion in September 2021. This is a 56.73% decrease compared to August 2021, which reached US$ 4.43 trillion.

The largest decrease in palm oil exports was to the Netherlands, with a monthly drop of 83.5% to 33,460 tons in September 2021. Palm oil exports to Malaysia amounted to 35,100 tons, down 81.74% month-on-month.

Palm oil exports to India were recorded at 275,500 tons in September 2021, down 71.3% month-on-month. Exports to the European Union totaled 219,600 tons, down 52.54%. Meanwhile, exports to China reached 467,400 tons, a decrease of 42.94% month-on-month.

Palm oil products exported in September 2021 included crude palm oil (CPO) at 158,000 tons, processed CPO at 2.2 million tons, crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) at 4,000 tons, processed CPKO at 147,000 tons, biodiesel at 11,000 tons, and oleochemicals at 357,000 tons.

Palm oil production reached 4.57 million tons in September 2021, down 1% compared to the previous month. With lower production and exports, Indonesia's ending stock of palm oil increased by 6.4% month-on-month to 3.65 million tons in September 2021.
